Now that we’ve explored – over the past five years – the depth of the hole that civilization has dug for itself, how do we get out? There’s that old saying about “stop digging,” but what exactly should we do? All we know for sure is this: do something else. What we’re doing right now isn’t working, at least not yet.
So what do we do about our looming energy crisis, prospective climate change, a slow or no-growth economy, widening income disparities, and global resource overshoot?
To be honest, we don’t know. But a lot of smart people have innovative ideas and emerging practices. We’re asking some of them to come to Portland to talk about innovation for public good. More on this in the coming days and weeks, as we gather explore the many different facets of innovation, and ask what it’s good for.
